Last week Nine Four Ventures welcomed Sophia Ghadamian to the team. Sophia is a Senior Associate and will be anchoring Nine Four in New York City. She’s a recent MBA graduate from Columbia University and previously worked at MetaProp and The Marketing Directors, a real estate development consulting firm. We’re thrilled to have her on the team and to now have a presence on both coasts and the Midwest, with her in NYC, Ryan and myself in Chicago, Paul in San Francisco, and Kailey in Los Angeles
When we started Nine Four, we thought it was important to have a nationwide – and global – network. It’s tough to ignore data that highlights the importance of the coasts in our ecosystem: companies in California, Massachusetts, and New York attracted 79% of total VC dollars invested and 53% of total VC deals completed in 2018. A bit more subjectively, New York City is quickly becoming known for the depth and breadth of its PropTech ecosystem to complement its historical position as the finance capital of the world, which we believe is tightly linked. We believe that having a team that is ingrained in both ecosystems day-in-and-day-out is critical to the engagement, relationships, and awareness that will drive successful PropTech investments and value-add for our portfolio companies, investors, and partners.
